Resistors for Infrastructure

For railway infrastructure, Danotherm can supply customized resistor systems for traction power substations and overhead-line testing.

Applications include filter and damping resistors to improve power quality, crowbar and protection circuits, capacitor charge/discharge duties and line-test resistors used to detect overhead line faults before energizing.

  • Compact encapsulated resistors

Auxiliary onboard resistors (Alpha product family)

Beyond braking, Danotherm supplies a broad family of auxiliary onboard resistors for railway vehicles: compact encapsulated resistors, wirewound and rheostat types, and aluminium-housed resistors for charge/discharge, damping, filtering and small braking duties.
  • Compact encapsulated resistors

Compact liquid-cooled braking resistors for light rail and trams (CBW)

Danotherm CBW liquid-cooled resistors deliver compact high-energy absorption for rail applications with high average power or pulse loads. In light rail and tram braking systems, the liquid-cooled design saves space compared with air-cooled alternatives and can enable regenerated braking heat to pre-heat driver or passenger compartments.
  • Compact encapsulated resistors

Traction brake resistors for trains and trams

Danotherm traction brake resistors are tailored for demanding railway braking applications, helping operators reduce mechanical brake wear and maintenance while improving safety and reliability. Installed on the roof, under the vehicle or in a dedicated compartment, each resistor solution can be specified for project voltage, power, environment, shock and vibration requirements.
